Polyethylene modified asphalt tape 

 I. Use and Features: 

polyethylene modified asphalt tape is a novelty anti-corrosive cold winded adhesive tape developed by this company based on traditional PE anticorrosive adhesive tape. Its base material consists of high and low density synthetic PE film, and its adhesive consists of high adhesion thermal-plastic modified self-bonding anti-corrosive adhesive and an anti-sticky release film. This product can be widely used for outer corrosion protection and repair in water supply & drain, oil and gas, coal gas transmission steel pipelines and buried steel tanks in petroleum, natural gas, chemical industry, municipal construction. This product is a novelty environmental protection type anticorrosive product without pollution and harm. In comparison with traditional anti-corrosive adhesive tape, this product has the following advantages: 

(1) High adhesion, self-fusion, water proof, gas tightness and good sealing property. 

(2) High electric insulation, excellent anti-aging stability, and strong anti-ultraviolet light. 

(3) Soil stress-caused damage resistance and high impact resistance. 

(4) Single winding of adhesive tape can realize ordinary or enhanced corrosion protection meeting SY/T0414-98. This product eliminates the need for multi-winding of traditional adhesive tape, minimizes the maninduced effect on anti-corrosive quality during corrosive protection, and reduces construction cost. 

(5) Easy and fast construction, no curing period, selection of either manual or mechanical operation, and reduction of 了construction period. 

(6) Low cost, and no pollution and three-waste. 

Nationally authoritative test body approves that polyethylene modified asphalt tape has all the test indices exceeding SY/T0414-2007 and meeting ANSI/AWWAC209-00和NACEMR0274-95. This product is the most economical environmental protection type product of anti-corrosive cold winded adhesive tapes and therefore is worthy of generalizaiton.

 III. Use Method: 

(1) Surface preparation: Remove rust, welding slag, burr, oil and dirt and keep clean and dry. Manual rust removal shall reach Class St3, mechanical rust removal shall reach Class Sa2 and meet SYJ4007-86. 

(2) Primer application: Select specialized primer and keep it away from a fire. Stir it well and apply it evenly with a clean brush or roller or in other mechanical ways. Primer consumption: 12㎡/L (Manual painting) and 20㎡/L (mechanical painting) 

(3) Do not apply the adhesive tape until the primer surface is dry (typically after 5 to 10 min).

IV. Transport and Storage: 

(1) The adhesive tape is protected from direct sunshine, rain, heavy object, heat and fire during transport. 

(2) Construction does not begin until this product is stored at about 20℃ for 48 hours if it is below 5℃ during transport or storage. 

(3) This product should be stored in a warehouse at ＞-5 or ＜75℃. This product has the shelf life of 12 months.
